Summer is the perfect time to get out and exercise! Take advantage of the nice weather and walk, jog, play sports and soak up some Vitamin D!

Most people are deficient in Vitamin D and the best, most natural way to get it is the sun! Supplements are sometimes needed.

Don’t want to exercise alone? Get a group of friends together and plan weekly activities like hiking or jogging.

Don’t mind being alone? Swim some laps in the pool or put some headphones on and walk or jog yourself.

Either way, make a schedule so you think about doing it. It’s amazing how much better we feel after a good workout and some sun.

There are so many parks all over Central Ohio. Check out all the local Metro Parks at https://www.metroparks.net/parks-and-trails/ . Whether you want to hike, bike, picnic or fish, it is so important to be outside.

Veggie Pizza

It’s easy to not eat healthy when we go to parties and there seem to be a lot of those in the summer! Take a veggie or fruit tray so there’s a healthy option. Even if you don’t want to go “too healthy” you could make a veggie pizza like the one below:

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces reduced-fat cream cheese, softened 226g
  • ½ cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt 113g
  • ½ cup light mayonnaise 113g
  • 1 package powdered Ranch dressing mix 1 ounce/28g
  • 2 cans reduced-fat Pillsbury Crescent Rolls each can is 8 ounces/226g
  • 1 cup fresh broccoli, chopped 91g
  • 1 cup fresh red pepper, chopped 175g
  • 4 green onions chopped
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese 120g
